HOUSTON - Chris Hardman won't be insulted if you don't believe him.
After all, not even his fiancee believes in UFOs.
But Hardman swears he has videotaped dozens of extraterrestrial spacecraft over the past year, both here in Houston and in Austin.
"Most of them are triangular in shape or kind of a teardrop," Hardman says.
He posts his videos on his YouTube channel where you can now view 51 clips, including last Saturdays close encounter with what he describes as an alien flying machine that approached within a few hundred feet.
"They're totally silent but this is the one time I could actually hear one, it got so close. It made kind of a humming sound."
MUFON, the Mutual UFO Network, lists 23 reports of UFO sightings over Harris county so far in 2009.
Hardman thinks that number is a gross underestimate, which is why he keeps his camera handy and his YouTube channel busy.
"People should know about it. People should pay more attention to what's going on over their head."

UFO Experts Investigate Mystery on Twin Cities Lake Minneapolis ABC news
A Forest Lake woman claims she saw large waves rippling out in a swirling motion on the lake. She thought it seemed strange and called police. She told them she thought the churning water came from a helicopter.
"There was quite a stir for 5 to 7 minutes, with waves that went out 30 to 40 feet. Not up, but out," said the woman's neighbor Eugene Huerstel.
Since the woman's account was credible according to police, Forest Lake firefighters and the Washington County Dive Team went into the lake to look for the unusual and suspicious object.

This morning, one neighborhood has UFO mania after this disturbing discovery.
On the 400 block of Yondota, Shirley Hansard said she smelled something coming from under her front porch. She raked out a skull, of all things, and to some it appears to be unlike anything they've seen on earth.
One young man was convinced it was an extra-terrestrial. His mom called the Zoo, the Humane Society and the police.
It's created some water cooler talk in town but it's most likely an animal skull. Police called to the scene say it may be from an opossum.

Apparently Colorado is a popular place for Unidentified Flying Objects (UFOs). Last year there were 150 reported sightings in the state. The people who investigate those sightings and UFO sightings worldwide spent this weekend in Denver.
About 400 people gathered in the Denver Tech Center to talk about the unexplained. For 40 years the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) has been investigating UFO sightings in Colorado and around the world.
"We investigate with the FAA. We investigate with the military; any kind of flights out there. We look at wind direction. We take a very scientific approach and at times we just come up with 'we don't know what it was,'" Barry Roth with MUFON of Colorado said.
Members say although most people who report sightings believe they have seen a UFO, 80 percent of those sightings can be explained.
An example is a photo taken in Denver. A bright light, coupled with a lens flare, turned out to be the planet Jupiter. But many others -- the remaining 20 percent -- remain a mystery.
Nuclear physicist Stanton Friedman is the author of four books on UFOs. He says in more than 50 years of doing investigations, there are still a lot of misperceptions on this subject. He's says his work is based strictly on facts.
"I don't buy anything first time around," Friedman said. "I try to get rid of the mythology and replace it with facts.
Only 7 percent of UFO sightings are believed to be reported. MUFON encourages people to report any unusual sightings to their Web site. They say reporters can remain anonymous and ask for one of their investigations

NORTH PORT: Family members are scared to go outside at night because of what they say is lurking in the woods. They claim more than five alien encounters in the last four months have taken place. Now, an international UFO organization wants to crack the real-life X-file.
Michael Rowley and his son Shane moved to their North Port home in April.
"Well, I'm retired and I thought this was where you're supposed to go," Michael said. "The only bad part is the aliens around here."
Shane, 16, says he's had several extra-terrestrial encounters - most of which have been through his bedroom window.
"They kind of show up when they want. You get used to them, but it is weird to see them walking around the woods with those big eyes," he said.
"I haven't seen the wings but we know he flies," added Michael.
The Rowleys' twilight story has the attention of MUFON - Mutual UFO Network. The group is investigating and wants to setup surveillance. But Michael believes they won't show up if cameras are around.
He says the plaster cast of a foot-print is his key evidence. While it may be hard to see, Michael believes the creature has a cloven hoof.
"[It's] about this big with pure deep red eyes. It just looked at me for a second," Michael said.
Michael admits to rarely going out at night. But he says he believes they come in peace and that they're here for a reason.
"I'm a combat Vietnam vet and I don't wake up until something good is going on," he said. "This is something big and good going on."
The family expects another alien encounter during the next full moon.
"And the neighbor, I showed a sample of the foot print and he goes, 'nah.' No one believes me," he said.
To the skeptical, Michael says just come to his house for a visit.
"I didn't believe it at first," he said.

MEXICO CITY - Mexican Air Force pilots filmed 11 unidentified flying objects in the skies over southern Campeche state, a Defense Department spokesman confirmed Tuesday.
A videotape made widely available to the news media on Tuesday shows the bright objects, some sharp points of light and others like large headlights, moving rapidly in what appears to be a late-evening sky.
The lights were filmed on March 5 by pilots using infrared equipment. They appeared to be flying at an altitude of about 3,500 meters (11,480 feet), and allegedly surrounded the Air Force jet as it conducted routine anti-drug trafficking vigilance in Campeche. Only three of the objects showed up on the plane's radar.
'Was I afraid? Yes. A little afraid because we were facing something that had never happened before,' said radar operator Lt. German Marin in a taped interview made public Tuesday.
'I couldn't say what it was ... but I think they're completely real,' added Lt. Mario Adrian Vazquez, the infrared equipment operator. Vazquez insisted that there was no way to alter the recorded images.
The plane's captain, Maj. Magdaleno Castanon, said the military jets chased the lights 'and I believe they could feel we were pursuing them.'
When the jets stopped following the objects, they disappeared, he said.
A Defense Department spokesman confirmed Tuesday that the videotape was filmed by members of the Mexican Air Force. The spokesman declined to comment further and spoke on customary condition of anonymity.
The video was first aired on national television Monday night then again at a news conference Tuesday by Jaime Maussan, a Mexican investigator who has dedicated the past 10 years to studying UFOs.
'This is historic news,' Maussan told reporters. 'Hundreds of videos (of UFOs) exist, but none had the backing of the armed forces of any country. ... The armed forces don't perpetuate frauds.'
Maussan said Secretary of Defense Gen. Ricardo Vega Garcia gave him the video on April 22. --

On Saturday, October 3, 1998, the Han family visited a mountainside cemetery on the outskirts of Kunming, a large city in China's Yunnan province, 1,050 kilometers (630 miles) southwest of Shanghai.
While they were paying their respects to their ancestors, "at about 11:50 a.m., Han took a look back into downtown Kunming and all of a sudden discovered an extremely dazzling object flying over the city. He tracked the flying object with his video camera and shot about three minutes of videotape of the UFO."
The object, which emitted "a dazzling light," first took "the shape of a blazing ball surrounded by two pieces of black rubber, and then five diamond- shaped objects flying in a diamond formation, said Han. In Addition: The whole process of its transformation and final disappearance lasted about two minutes.
The UFO could change color. At first it was silver, then became lighter, then turned orange. Strangely, about half a minute later, with a flash of light it changed shape from a cylinder to the disk shape usually associated with flying saucers.
After viewing Han's video, some Chinese scientists affirmed its research value. A member of Beijing's "Chinese UFO Reseach Association" said that although there have been a number of videos of UFOs in all parts of the world, few filed sightings are as long as two minutes. Over the last two decades, China has gathered thousands of eyewitness accounts of UFOs. Some say the perpose of publicizing this video was to tell everyone that UFOs have an objective existence in the material world and we humans should pay attention and strengthen our investigations and research.

Gary McKinnon Campaign
Gary McKinnon, also known as SOLO (born February 10, 1966), is a Scottish hacker facing extradition to the United States to face charges of perpetrating what has been described by one prosecutor as the "biggest military computer hack of all time." Following legal hearings in the UK it was decided in July 2006 that he should be extradited to the US. In February 2007 his lawyers argued against the ruling in an appeal to the High Court in London, which was turned down on April 3.
On July 30, 2007 the House of Lords agreed to hear the appeal and on June 17, 2008 the Law Lords began hearing the case. This Judgment was delivered on July 30, 2008 with the Law Lords judging that Gary McKinnon could be extradited to the United States.
He was given two weeks to appeal to the European Court of Human Rights before extradition, but the Court halted the extradition for an additional two weeks to allow time to hear his appeal on August 28, which was subsequently rejected. His legal team subsequently decided to lodge another appeal, which was granted, based on the fact that McKinnon has recently been diagnosed with Asperger's syndrome.
His diagnosis was made in August 2008 by the eminent psychologist Prof Simon Baron-Cohen.

Alienware Behind Dragonfly 'Drone', UFOs and Crop Circles?
We have previously covered the 'mystery' surrounding the so-called 'Chad UFO Drone' sightings, and the associated CARET document with its alleged alien glyphs, which have received a fair amount of air time courtesy of journalist Linda Moulton Howe and various 'paranormal radio' shows. Well, it may now finally be solved - and as we thought, it looks like a viral marketing scheme. Computer hardware company Alienware (a subsidiary of Dell) has been running a competition around the release of two new laptop models, where entrants must decode the same 'alien glyphs' as found in the CARET document. The competition page and hint pages also make use of the same vector illustrations found in the document. Yesterday's press conference to unveil the new laptops also made use of the glyphs (which spell out 'Alienware') - the 'logo' is also apparently inscribed on the computers themselves.
However, the 'true believers' out there are still wary of seeing this as the final nail in the 'Drone' case - and they have received some support from Alienware themselves.A query by a member of the Open Minds Forum to Alienware, about their use of the glyphs, received this response from their PR Director: Thank you for your email. Its great to hear that our promotion has reach out to you and your Forum group regarding the CARET document. Alienware did NOT create the information regarding this phenomena or the CARAT linguistics. This is NOT an intellectual property of Alienware. The information has anonymously spread throughout the web for some time. We have taken the CARAT linguistics and have applied this as a marketing tool to draw attention to our promotion.
This has led some to believe that Alienware have just 'hijacked' the CARET meme for their own benefit. There may be some grounds to support this, in that the Alienware 'alphabet', when applied to the CARET documents for decoding, only turns up gibberish (on the flipside, the viral marketers may have been wary of someone cracking the alphabet previous to now, giving a reason for the gibberish).
However, I find it very hard to believe that a company like Dell/Alienware would use glyphs and illustrations that are floating around the Internet without any knowledge of the true copyright owner...otherwise they could be looking at a very nasty lawsuit down the track. Some have suggested that they could get away with this due to grey areas in font copyright law, but this would not extend to the illustrations used.
Additionally, in the message from the PR director CARET is spelled correctly once, and then 'CARAT' is substituted afterwards. It is worth noting that Carat is the name of a major advertising and communications company, which has as a subsidiary a digital and viral marketing wing named Carat Fusion.
If it was a viral marketing scheme, it didn't seem to work out too impressively - the glyph decoding competition is already finished, and most of ufology was none the wiser. The CARET meme didn't seem to spread outside of the 'true believer' section of ufology (most serious researchers simply laughed at the whole thing), so the audience was very limited. And those 'true believers' who were aware of it - and thought it was evidence for alien contact - are probably not impressed at all with Alienware for tricking them (apart from those who continue to believe that Alienware have just hijacked the meme).
Perhaps there might be more to come - Alienware computers are aimed at the high-performance gaming market, so there may be a tie-in with an upcoming game which is yet to be revealed. However, at this point - unless an original creator (or aliens) comes out and sues Alienware for breach of copyright - it seems safe to put this one to bed.
At least it made for good art - especially the derivative music video "Strange Craft", by Drone (CGI work by Saladfingers).

Kansas City UFO Sightings on the Rise June 12, 2009
ANSAS CITY, MO. - Is there life in outer space? And if so, when E.T. phones home is he dialing an 816 number?
A local group that investigates UFO close encounters said it's getting more reports of UFOs in our area and more interest in the organization.
When you see reports about UFOs on the internet, it's hard to separate fact from fiction. But, that's exactly what a group of UFO investigators in Kansas City is working to do.
On May 31, witnesses saw two unidentified objects near the UMKC campus. A man reported it to MUFON, Mutual UFO Network, and gave investigators a drawing of what he saw.
"He grew up on military bases and couldn't identify it at all," said Margie Kay, Director of KC MUFON.
Kay said sightings like the one at UMKC are on the rise since the start of the year. They used to get one or two sightings a month. Now, it's one or two a day.
"It's keeping us all too busy. Yes. At one point a couple of months ago I received 11 reports on the same day," said Kay.
Kay is also noticing a lot more chatter on websites. One message board used to get about 12 posts a month a couple of years ago, in January 2009, it received 129 messages.

The video was sent to the UFO Casebook by Paul, an avid skywatcher from Wolds, in Great Britain. Recently, he was scanning the skies over his home, and saw something unusual... an interesting flying object that did not appear to be a conventional object.
Paul related to me via e-mail that the object seemed to appear out of nowhere, they could not tell what direction it came from, nor did they ever hear a sound from the object. Paul grabbed his video camera and shot the footage you see below. I think you will agree it is quite interesting.
About 30 minutes after the sighting, two helicopters appeared in the sky. They could hear the copters well before they could see them. Paul has no idea what the object he filmed is - maybe you will have an idea.
He has sent me approximately a minute of a four minute film. Paul has taken film and photos of objects before, and believes the Wolds area is quite active with UFOs.

YAKIMA, Wash-- A new study finds Yakima has one of the highest UFO reporting rates per capita. Popular Mechanics released the study, it shows by county the number of UFO sightings reported from 1947 to 2005.
Yakima County ranked fourth among small cities with 227 sightings and King County was second with 621 reported sightings among major metro counties.
One center for UFO sightings found there was an increase in areas near military training zones. There is a training reservation in Yakima, which could be one of the reasons.
KNDU talked to the Director of the National UFO Reporting Center, which has been in Seattle since 1974 and recently moved to Lincoln County. He says it's more important to report when you saw a UFO rather than where because according to him UFO's can travel very fast.
"We have a reason to believe that a UFO could have the breadth of the U.S. in a matter of minutes. It's much more interesting to look at all the sightings for a given time period than for a given geographical location," said Peter Davenport, National UFO Reporting Center.
